Caravan & Motorhome Insurance

Whether you have a motorhome, or a touring or static caravan, caravan and motorhome insurance cover offers you the peace of mind you need.

What is motorhome insurance?

Motorhome insurance is a special type of motor insurance, designed for motorhomes and recreational vehicles (RVs). Motorhomes are classified as vehicles, so insurance for motorhomes is a legal requirement to drive on public roads. Given the additional value of motorhomes and their fixtures and fittings, finding suitable cover is important to protect your investment.

How much does motorhome insurance cost?

There are a few factors that influence the cost of motorhome insurance. The insurance you choose and the type of insurance you’re looking for play a big role. The cost can also be influenced by other factors, like the age and model of the motorhome, where it’s stored when not in use, and your claims history (and any No Claims Bonus or No Claims Discount).

At Radius, we will help you find suitable insurance for your motorhome to cover your specific needs. Get a motorhome insurance quote by clicking on the button below.

What type of motorhome insurance do you need?

Based on your needs, you can choose between the three main types of insurance for motorhomes:

Cover can be arranged for:

  1. Third party. This is the minimum level of cover you’ll legally need. It covers the costs of compensating third parties only for injury or damage.
  2. Third party, fire and theft. On top of the cover provided by third party, also offers cover if your motorhome is stolen or damaged or destroyed by a fire.
  3. Fully comprehensive. Covers all the above and can also cover your motorhome if it’s damaged and you’re at fault.

What is caravan insurance?

While it’s not legally required, it’s highly recommended that you have caravan insurance. It can offer you financial protection and cover for incidents like theft, damage (both accidental and malicious), weather-related incidents and accidents you may be liable for

Types of caravan insurance

Your caravan insurance should reflect the type of caravan you have. There are two types of caravans, static and touring, with specific cover to protect your interests:

  • Static caravan insurance. This type of insurance offers cover for static caravans, which are permanent structures used as mobile homes and are usually housed on purpose-built sites.
  • Touring caravan insurance. This type of insurance offers cover for touring caravans, which can be towed by motor vehicles from one place to another and can be used to travel around the UK and abroad.

There are often special considerations to insure a caravan, such as security requirements. We are insurance specialists and can help make sure you choose appropriate cover for your caravan.

Do you need caravan insurance?

Caravan insurance can respond if there is damage to your caravan wherever it is stored – whether on your driveway, on the road, or stored on a caravan park. Without it, you could suffer significant financial impact if you have to repair or replace your caravan. The same applies should your vehicle by stolen – without cover, you may end up paying for a replacement caravan if it is not covered.
